Leeds Building Society Accredited for Commitment to Ethical Business
The Good Business Charter has recognised Leeds Building Society in its inaugural Good Business Week, acknowledging the Society’s commitment to responsible business practices.
This accreditation demonstrates the Society’s continued commitment to making responsible decisions for our members, colleagues, communities, suppliers and the environment. Leeds Building Society is one of the largest businesses to receive the accreditation.
The Good Business Charter looks at ten measures demonstrating ethical business practices, including paying colleagues the Real Living Wage, prioritising employee wellbeing, being environmentally responsible and paying a fair share of tax.
Nick Young, Chief Strategy and Insights Officer at Leeds Building Society, said:
“At Leeds Building Society, we strive to be responsible in everything we do. Whether through increasing home ownership, supporting our communities, improving inclusion and diversity, reducing our impact on the environment, or creating trust through being transparent with our members and colleagues.
“Our responsible business strategy guides our decisions in our ambition to put homeownership in reach of more people, and we are proud to have been accredited with the Good Business Charter, which recognises and champions responsible business behaviour.”
Jenny Herrera, CEO of the Good Business Charter, said:
"We are delighted to accredit Leeds Building Society in our inaugural Good Business Week, recognising their commitment to our 10 components which put people first.
“We congratulate Leeds Building Society on choosing to hold themselves to account for their responsible behaviour towards their workforce, their suppliers, customers, society and the planet.
“Many companies cannot achieve GBC accreditation because of its requirement to meet all 10 minimum standards so Leeds Building Society should feel really proud to have achieved this."
