With an Approval in Principle (sometimes called an Decision in Principle), you can find out how much you can borrow with a mortgage from Leeds Building Society. It’s free and there’s no obligation to take out a mortgage with us afterwards.

By taking into account your income and outgoings, it gives you a good idea of the type of property you can afford. It’s also something estate agents sometimes ask for to show you’re serious about buying.

What do you need to get an Approval in Principle?

To help you complete everything as quickly as possible, you’ll find it useful to have the following to hand:

Your salary and employment details
Any existing mortgage details
Details of your current financial commitments

In order for the Society to properly assess whether you can afford the proposed mortgage you will be asked to provide certain information and evidence during the mortgage application process. You must ensure that all of the information and evidence that you supply is accurate and complete.

If you apply for a mortgage online you will not receive advice from Leeds Building Society.
