You've helped us hit an amazing milestone for Dementia UK
You've helped us raise £100,000 for Dementia UK
We can’t believe it’s been six months since we launched our partnership with Dementia UK. Thanks to your generosity, and the fundraising efforts of our colleagues, we’ve raised more than £100,000 for the charity already.
How you've helped
We kicked off our fundraising in April with an initial £25,000 donation to help the charity provide much needed support during these challenging times.
Those members signed up to the Your Interest in Theirs scheme helped to boost this initial donation by giving the pence amount of interest on their savings to the charity*. It just goes to show that small donations really can make a difference.
If you voted as part of our annual general meeting (AGM) in spring, you also played a part in bringing vital dementia support closer to those who need it. We donated 20p for every online vote and 10p for every paper vote cast at the AGM, raising a further £5,716 for Dementia UK!
Our colleagues have been doing their bit too. Although the pandemic put traditional fundraising plans on hold, colleagues came up with innovative ways to raise money while following social distancing guidelines, often from home. In July, they took on the Do it Daily Challenge – running, cycling and hula-hooping their way to a whopping £31,000.
What impact will the money have?
The money you’ve raised is helping Dementia UK provide emotional and practical support to those living with dementia and their families, through the Admiral Nurse Dementia Helpline.
Dr Hilda Hayo, Chief Admiral Nurse and CEO at Dementia UK, said: "These have not been easy times, particularly for families with dementia who have had to isolate because of the pandemic, and who have in some instances found it difficult to visit loved ones in care.
"What families with dementia need right now is the expertise, compassion and advocacy of dementia specialist Admiral Nurses. This fundraising from Leeds Building Society will allow us to provide just this to more families at this challenging and uncertain time."
